Safe Routes to School Trail Update
August 20, 2026 Update
You may have noticed some utility markings being placed and other construction work in Logan recently. This is the beginning of a new trail project that is being constructed in our town. The contractor of the project is Armodus, LLC, from Mondamin, Iowa. Construction will likely extend into November for various parts of the project. There will be some sidewalk and tree removal from within the street right-of-way. There are no street closures planned. If you have questions please contact City Hall at 712-644-2425.
October 1, 2026 Update
Despite a record amount of rain in September, the crew from Armodus, LLC has managed to pour several large sections of the Trail Project. They have substantially completed the section on 4th Street, along the Community Center, down the hill on Glen Road, a large section along the soccer field at Milliman Park, a section on Glen Road leading to Hwy. 127 and two large sections on the Lo-Ma School property. They are also working on other items such as fencing, storm inlets and drainage and coordinating the relocation of utility poles. October will be a busy month of working on the highway crossing, working on the 3rd Avenue portion that leads down to the football field and finishing up the remaining sections and then preparing for the hydroseeding of the grass. Check out the Turkey Trot 5K & 1-mile walk to celebrate the opening of the trail on Sat., Nov. 21st on the Logan Community Visioning FB page!
Scenic Byways Kiosk City Park Project
You may have noticed a new slab of concrete on the southeast corner of the City Park. This will be the new location of 3 interpretive kiosks containing information on local historical, cultural and natural resources and attractions for the Loess Hills National Scenic Byway, the Western Skies Scenic Byway and the Lincoln Highway Heritage Byway. Fun fact: Logan is the only city in Iowa that sits on THREE scenic byways! The kiosks were a collaborative project between the Iowa DOT, the Prairie Rivers RC & D, the Golden Hills RC & D and the City of Logan. We hope this visible location along Highway 30 will inform many travelers coming through Logan about these scenic byways!
