Our History

The Logan Community Foundation was established on September 24, 1998, with a shared vision of strengthening and supporting the Logan community for generations to come. Unique in the world of philanthropy, the Foundation was created not only to address local needs, but also to provide an opportunity for all citizens to play a role in shaping Logan’s future.

Unlike private or corporate foundations funded by a single person, family, or business, the Logan Community Foundation is built through the collective generosity of individuals, families, and local businesses who believe in pooling their resources to create lasting community impact. The Foundation exists to foster growth, opportunity, and positive change throughout Logan.

The idea for today’s Foundation began in the most authentic way possible—through countless conversations over coffee. We spent many hours discussing how we could bring all aspects of the community closer together. We envisioned stronger partnerships between the city, the school, and the chamber — three important pillars that, united together, could help create something truly special for Logan.

In August 2024, we officially reestablished our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and began the work of building a strong foundation for the future. Since then, community support has played a vital role in our progress. We have organized community meal fundraisers, focused on raising funds for projects and creating a place for community fellowship.

Looking ahead, we are excited to continue growing the impact of the Logan, IA Community Foundation. Our goal is to host our community gala annually to recognize and celebrate the everyday champions who make Logan a better place. We also plan to continue organizing smaller fundraisers throughout the year to engage the community, strengthen relationships, and expand our resources.

Our long-term vision is to grow the Foundation’s funds to support local projects, provide grant-matching opportunities, and eventually fund initiatives of our own that directly benefit the Logan community. Through collaboration, generosity, and continued community support, we hope to build a lasting legacy that inspires growth, connection, and opportunity for years to come.
